Introduction
We are thrilled to present you with an exciting opportunity to be a part of our life-changing internship program. The MFW Instructional Design Internship, which began in 2020, has been instrumental in empowering young unemployed South African youth with the skills necessary to excel in instructional design. By joining us as a sponsor, you will contribute to equipping these talented individuals with the capabilities to serve both local and international clients. It is worth noting that instructional design is a skill in high demand globally, and this demand is only expected to rise as digital transformation continues to shape education across all levels - be it academic or corporate.
Your Investment

R130 000 (1-year sponsorship for 1 intern)
Your investment covers:

Provision of a laptop and software (including multimedia and authoring tools)

Monthly stipend (above the minimum living wage)

Data allowance

Fully remote work option, with the possibility of office work if preferred by the intern

On-the-job training and exposure to client projects

Creation of a portfolio for each intern.
Who is eligible for the internship?

South African youth aged between 18 and 35 years

Basic computer literacy is necessary

Curriculum
Month 1-4
Foundations of Instructional Design

Introduction to Instructional Design: Understanding the role and importance of instructional design, and the instructional design process.

Needs Assessment and Analysis: Conducting a needs assessment to identify training requirements, analyzing target audience characteristics and learning needs, and gathering data for instructional design decisions.

Learning Objectives and Assessment Design: Developing clear and measurable learning objectives, aligning objectives with desired learning outcomes, and designing assessments to evaluate learning effectiveness.
Month 5-7
Instructional Materials and Media Production

Instructional Strategies and Content Development: Selecting appropriate instructional strategies and methods, designing engaging learning activities and experiences, and organizing content effectively.

Instructional Materials and Media Production: Creating visually appealing and interactive instructional materials, incorporating multimedia elements, and utilizing authoring tools for content creation.

Learning Management Systems and Technology Integration: Understanding learning management systems (LMS), integrating instructional materials with LMS platforms, and exploring technology integration for instructional design.
Month 8-12
Adaptation to Different Learning Environments and Portfolio Development

Adaptation to Different Learning Environments: Designing instruction for diverse learning environments, adapting instructional materials for various delivery modes, and addressing challenges and opportunities in different contexts.

Evaluation and Assessment of Instructional Design: Conducting formative and summative evaluations of instructional materials, analyzing evaluation data, and implementing revisions for improvement.

Professional Development and Portfolio Development: Building a professional online presence as an instructional designer, engaging in continuous learning and networking, and developing a comprehensive portfolio showcasing instructional design projects.
